The A List

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

So last night I was watching something trashy on Bravo… I have a weakness for “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and on really dark days I admit to watching “Real Housewives of New Jersey”. On the coming attractions they announced “from the creators of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” a new show about a group of fabulous, over the top, wealthy gay guys in NYC called “the A list.” The sizzle for the show was really good – it looked like a show I would definitely want to watch. Well… I already confessed the kind of stuff I am into – but it did look colorful.

I am not a stranger to this show. This summer I was driving to dance in a show (until I arrived I was not to know the show was in a convent – but that is a whole ‘nother story.) I got a call from someone producing “the A list” who was a lovely man and a regular client at Brazil Bronze – and he wanted to shoot a scene in the salon. I remember driving with my dance buddies while trying to have a sensible conversation with this producer. He mentioned that he had looked on our website and seen the section about Vajazzling and wondered if men could do it. We had a charming conversation about a gentlemen who had requested his family coat of arms to be emblazoned on himself… I was trying to fill in the necessary details – but as you can imagine it is a slightly questionable conversation to be having in a crowded mini van…

So – “the A list” came and shot the scene – and then they asked us to shoot another scene of the members – I am not sure if I phrased that the right way, the cast members, having a spray tan on a penthouse balcony – so fun, and totally NYC fabulous.

Anyway – when I was watching the coming attraction for the show – one of the key tag lines was “HOUSEWIVES WITH BALLS” – and at the time I remembered my whole vajazzeling conversation and how I had explained to the producer that the real scientific term for what he was describing was “disco balls”… and it made me smile. I am totally looking forward to seeing this show – let’s hope it’s as good as it seems.

Disco Balls.

That Jennifer Love-Hewitt has a lot to answer for. The whole world wants to be vajazelled. I have written quite a few “funny spray tan stories” blogs – but I could write a book about funny vajazelling stories. However – this post is not dedicated to that.

One thing that surprised me – which is pretty stupid of me to be surprised by anything – is that men want to be vajazelled too. I mean – not exactly vajazzelled – but bedazelled – or should I say “P” dazzled. Last week a gentleman called and somehow or other I got put on the phone with him. He wanted his family crest of arms that included a rearing dragon and something else as a custom decoration. People are so creative.

So summer is gearing up to be super busy and super sprakley at Brazil Bronze.

I have been keeping myself very busy with lots of fun pursuits. As you know I love to dance and keep in shape – so I came up with a really fun idea for a new workout class. It is called Burlesque Bikini Bootcamp and I have started teaching it three times a week at Chelsea Studio. I have a great friend who is a burlesque perform who goes by the name of Kitty Cavalier – and of course I have to have a name too – so I am Chardonnay (there is a British tv show called “footballer’s wives” and one of the wives was called Chardonnay and I loved the name so much I wanted to christen my daughter with it – however my family put a damper on that – so it all worked out because the name was left over and free for me to use!) The workout is totally juicy. It is a little showgirl and retro in its style and music – but it combines regular aerobics, strength training, ballet, yoga, plyometrics – and then there is a 25 minute section where we learn a little burlesque dance routine together. We encourage the participants to try to dress a little sexy for class – or at least slap on some lipstick. If you want to try the class go to www.kittycavalier.com to register.

This past weekend I was at a ballroom dancing competition in Philadelphia. It was a lot of fun. However – the people at Amtrak are a bunch of crooks. They tried to charge me $597 to travel from NYC to Philly one way.  A couple of weeks ago we went to a competition in Costa Rica and spent less money than going for one day to Philly….but hell it was fun. When I showed my friends the dvd of the comp they were totally impressed because I was making really good faces – which I never did before. I may not be a good dancer – but at least I have started to make really good faces…..!!
